On 3 November 2026, the Association of Scientific Staff at D-BAUG invites all students, researchers and professors to the department’s annual Meet & Share event. This year’s theme will be “Uncertainty”, highlighting how D-BAUG researchers make sense of the unknown and navigate it in their work. Doctoral students and researchers from many institutes will present selected case studies. The event will be held at HIT E 51 from 15:00. Join us for an afternoon of exchange, insight and inspiration!
A study led by researchers at ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL, and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel shows that glaciers worldwide could lose ice faster than previously projected. Published in Nature Communications, the research finds that daily weather variability and extreme events can substantially increase projected glacier loss and sea-level rise.
