Education

The Chair of Hydraulic Structures is responsible for bachelor and master lectures, which are mainly offered in the two study courses Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. In laboratory exercises as well as physical and numerical models, flow and sediment transport processes in hydraulic engineering and river engineering facilities and flumes are visualised and explained. During excursions, current hydraulic engineering projects are visited in order to illustrate the teaching content. In addition, bachelor's and master's theses as well as project works are supervised.

The Chairs of Glaciology and Glacial Seismology are active in the bachelor and master lectures of the departments D-BAUG, D-ERDW and D-USYS. In addition to lectures, a field course lasting several days and a literature seminar are offered. The annual excursion to the Jungfraujoch as part of the 'Applied Glaciology' is a highlight for many students. Supervision of bachelor's and master's theses as well as project works is part of the offer.
