Scientific awards

Various research awards are presented annually to outstanding Master's and doctoral theses. A selection of these is listed below.

Maggia AG Engineering Office Research Award

Every year, the Maggia AG Engineering Office (IM) presents an award for the "best" Master's thesis at ETH that was conducted in one of IM's multidisciplinary fields of activity. Further information can be found on the external page IM website.

No application by the students is required. The academic office proposes a candidate to IM based on the evaluation of the thesis and in consultation with the lecturers.

PLANAT Research Award

Outstanding research work in the field of natural hazards is annually awarded a prize of CHF 5,000. Additional information about the research award and application conditions can be found on the external page PLANAT websites.

Hilti Award

Hilti AG endows the Hilti Award for innovative research to promote practice-relevant research at ETH Zurich. The award recognizes Master's theses that excellently combine scientific content with practical relevance. Further information about the Hilti Award can be found on the ETH and Rectorate pages.
